Darla Martinelli was born in 1972, at Clark Air Force Base, in the Philippians. As a young woman her interests included scholastic sports and modeling. Her family moved to Texas in 1983, where Darla continued to pursue her modeling career. Darla is a two time recipient of the Texas State Physical Fitness Award, and has gone on to teach others on the importance of fitness.

In 1998, while attending a CCS race with her husband George, she decided she also wanted to become a licensed racer. Darla attended

numerous PCS track days, race schools and received her competition license in 2000.

While competing in the 2000 PACE/CCS season Darla was offered a d ride with Ritchie Morris and Daytona Harley Davidson. That year Darla had her first podium finish on a SV 650 while racing for Keith Sanderson and Martinelli Motorsports. In the 2000 season "Darla became more than just a pretty face, she was a good racer." In March of 2001, by qualifying in the top fifteen at Daytona, Darla became the first woman ever to race a Beull professionally. That season brought Darla more podium finishes, and more importantly, confidence in her racing career.

In 2003, Darla will compete in Formula USA/CCS, WERA and select AHRMA events. She will be riding a number of different motorcycles from a Beull to a Superbike prepped Suzuki SV 650. "If it has two wheels, I'll race it." "I would really like to thank the people who gave me my start in this sport such as my husband George, Matt Griffen (VORTEX) and Ritchie Morris."

Darla ended the last race of the season with 3 podium finishes on her SV650 & is looking forward to the 2003 season.
